Protect your iPhone against theft and recover it!

Because Apple iPhones are equipped with GPS, Apple sought to develop a service that enables users to find the device anywhere and anytime, even when they were stolen. The service is called “Find My iPhone” and it’s using an integrated GPS IDEV plus an internet connection to make a precise location as possible iPhone/iPad or iPod Touch. In iOS 5, Apple included Find My iPhone service in iCloud settings so go to: Settings> iCloud> Find My iPhone and activate it.

Of course the GPS need to be always active so go to the Settings> Location Services and turn on the GPS from Find My iPhone submenu. There you have the option to enable GPS for this service and to set an icon to be displayed in the Status Bar when it is used by you.

After you have activated the service you can access iCloud.com website where you need to login with Apple ID used to log in iCloud service from your device. After you logged in iCloud website choose Find My iPhone icon and you will open a map where you have your site displayed IDEV and location. Pressing the blue button IDEV’s right you will have access to a menu that allows you to: display a message to the screen or to play a sound, to block remote terminal so that no one can use it, to delete the entire contents of your iPhone for your own protection.

Find My iPhone service has been used successfully in the past to find many IDEV’s lost or stolen and might help you do the same. If you lost your IDEV and Find My iPhone was activated on it then you can find it again or using the application interface iCloud.com or using Find My iPhone App from Store. This is the safest way to find a stolen IDEV as mobile phone operator will not help you locate it in the absence of a written request from a State organ.
