In 19.10.2011, Google and Samsung held a presentation in Hong Kong to launch Android 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung Nexus Galaxy, the first phone running Android 4.0. I will point out three things in the article below about the presentation today:

Architecture decisions in Android 4.0

If you browse some other news on technology sites you may find the same information on Android 4.0. What is forgotten and not mentioned in these articles is the answer to the question: Why Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? Android 4.0 is a go (a meeting) branches of Android 2.3 and Android 3.0. Android 3.0 Honeycomb practical changes came with the GUI and System Bar, Action Bar, fragments, etc. and was not designed for tablets and phones. Android 2.3 at the same time stabilizing the code and comes with major changes related to stability, battery life etc. Android 4.0 is 3.0′s branch reintegration back into trunk (SVN lovers have to understand that I mean). Practically from the moment the phone and tablet versions are united under the same umbrella of a single SDK.
