ITG xpPhone 2 – now flavored with Windows 8
Once created xpPhone, the first mobile phone capable of running on Windows XP, ITG Taiwanese manufacturer is trying to keep up with current trends and already working on a successor to it, this time based on Windows 8.
If the first version was from the beginning an experiment doomed to failure, due to the use of an inappropriate operating system for mobile phones, xpPhone 2 will be able to enjoy all the benefits of Windows 8 and Metro interface specially adapted to this kind of devices.
With 140x73x17.5 mm dimensions, xpPhone 2 is not very convenient accessory pocket, and if you look at the specifications we will understand why.
Totaling 2 GB RAM and the storage space can reach even 112 GB, depending on the SSD’s capacity choice. Know with certainty only on processor clocked at 1.6 GHz it.
It is unclear whether we are dealing with an x86 PC, such as the Intel Atom family, or one of the ARM architecture models specifically designed for this type of devices.
Given the fact that the version of Windows 8 recommended for tablets is compatible with ARM architecture, it is unlikely to see again a PC operating system running on x86 for such a device.
